In this month’s Bean Bulletin, we look at the Mediterranean diet, a traditional dietary pattern that includes simply delicious, naturally nutritious beans. We examine some of the major tenants of this dietary pattern, and why and how beans can be included in meals and snacks. We also interview Kathy McManus, a research dietitian based at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Kathy shares some of the latest research on the Mediterranean diet, as well as some of her strategies for helping patients adopt and enjoy a healthy, delicious Mediterranean diet. Finally, we share a few tidbits of information about the Mediterranean diet and region.
